چکیده

Using high precision irradiance data from the Southern Great Plains ARM extended facility network [1], we confirm results of initial efforts by the authors to quantify the effective -intrinsic -accuracy of hourly global irradiances derived from geostationary satellite observations. We extend this initial analysis to other components –direct and diffuse – as well as other time steps – 1-minute and daily. For pixel sizes of the order of 10 km, we show that accuracy achievable with current satellite-based models is remarkably close to the pixel-wide achievable by a ground station located within the considered pixel.

Technical guide to Set Up a Spectral Solar Direct Normal Irradiance Permanent Station: Study Area- Hannover, Germany

The spectral Direct Normal Irradiance (SDNI) is a basic radiometric quantity from which many other quantities can be derived. It provides not only information about the spectral and distribution of the direct solar radiation reaching a particular location. Accurate knowledge about the spectral direct irradiance shall enable us to gain new scientific results in the: determination of cloud effect...

Accuracy Improvement of Tropospheric Delay Interpolation in RTK Networks

The effect of troposphere on the signals emitted from global navigation satellite system (GNSS) satellites, appears as an extra delay in the measurement of the signal traveling from the satellite to receiver. This delay depends on the temperature, pressure, humidity as well as the transmitter and receiver antennas location. In GNSS positioning, tropospheric delay effects on accuracy of differen...

A Pilot Study of FDG-PET/CT in Polycythemia Vera Using Global Analysis Techniques

Objective(s): Functional imaging presents a non-invasive process that may capture the hyper-metabolic nature of red bone marrow in myeloproliferative neoplasms, such as polycythemia vera (PV). Methods: This study analyzed the FDG-PET/CT scans (n=12) of six patients diagnosed with PV and six age-sex matched controls using a quantitative global analysis methodol...

Estimation of Global Solar Irradiance Using a Novel combination of Ant Colony Optimization and Empirical Models

In this paper, a novel approach for the estimation of global solar irradiance is proposed based on a combination of empirical correlation and ant colony optimization. Empirical correlation has been used to estimate monthly average of daily global solar irradiance on a horizontal surface. The Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm has been applied as a swarm-intelligence technique to tune the c...

Solar surface irradiance from new meteorological satellite data

This paper presents the first prototype of a new method, for assessing solar surface irradiance, benefiting from advanced products derived from recent Earth Observation missions. This method -called Heliosat-4is based on the radiative transfer model libRadtran and will provide direct, diffuse components and spectral distribution of solar surface irradiance every 3 km and 1⁄4 h over Europe and A...
